Some people are just not morning persons. They find that the most difficult thing to do in life is to get out of bed. And because they are in a trance before they get their morning jolt, they feel that scooping coffee beans into a grinder, transferring the grounds into a coffee maker, and pouring water into its reservoir is the second most difficult thing to do. If you are one of them, the Senseo SL7810/65 Gourmet Coffee Machine may be for you.
With the Senseo machine, there is no need to grind coffee beans as it uses a coffee pod. After filling the reservoir with water, you only have to put the pod in its tray, insert it into the machine, and hit the switch. In about a minute, you get a cup of freshly brewed coffee without the hassle of grinding beans. They grounds in the pods are pre-measured eliminating the need to measure your own. Also, there is no need to deal with messy and wet used grounds and filters.
The coffee machine is manufactured by Philips Electronics while the pods are supplied by Douwe Egberts of Sara Lee. The machine heats the water up to 205°F and, with a slight pressure, sprays in on the coffee pod. Before dripping into a waiting cup below, the coffee is lightly aerated as it passes through a frothing chamber. This produces a frothy coffee layer.
The pods come in various flavors and blends including dark roast, espresso, cappuccino, and mocca to name a few. You can actually enjoy a different flavor every time you want a cup simply by putting a different type of pod.
Although the reservoir can hold as much as 20 ounces of water, you can only brew either a 4-ounce cup or 8-ounce mug. The pods, however, are designed for the smaller cup so that if you want 8 ounces of coffee, you will need to use two pods.
The machine measures 13.5" x 12" x 8.5" and it comes in four colors –cobalt blue, red, white, and black.
