Preparing instant coffee is a quick and easy way to have a cup of java, but plenty of true blue coffee lovers think it is bland. On the other hand, measuring and scooping coffee beans into a grinder, grinding them, and pouring them into a coffee maker can feel rather involved early in the morning when you are still struggling to wake up. Striking a happy balance between the two is the Keurig B60 Special Edition Gourmet Home Brewing System.
The B60 Special Edition is part of Keurig's line up of single-serve home coffee brewers, second only to the top of the line Platinum. Like the rest of the series, the B60 uses the patented K-Cups instead of loose coffee grounds. K-Cups come in at least 70 varieties of gourmet coffee, tea, and cocoa blends. The coffee beans are pre-measured, ground, and sealed immediately after grinding to protect them from oxidation.
With the K-Cups, all you have to do to brew is drop the cups into the machine and hit the brew button. Piping hot coffee drips directly into a cup or mug beneath the K-cup holder. You do not even have to pour water into the reservoir every time you brew as it has a 48-ounce capacity –good for about five mugs. No cleaning of filter baskets or handling of soggy paper filters too.
You can choose the size of your coffee, by pushing a button, from 5¼, 7¼, and 9¼ ounces. You can even choose the brewing temperature between the standard 192°F and the slightly cooler 187°F.
A timer is incorporated into the Keurig B60 Special Edition Gourmet Home Brewing System. With this, you can program the machine to automatically start brewing at a pre-set time. Thus, you can have your morning jolt immediately after gathering the strength to get up from bed.
