Created for solo and gourmet coffee drinkers, the Keurig B-40 Elite Gourmet Home-Brewing System brews only a single cup or mug of coffee in one brew, and since it uses K-Cups, you can choose from over 70 varieties and blends of ground coffee beans gathered from all over the world. These come in different brands including Green Mountain Coffee, Gloria Jean's, Tully's, Twining, and Wolfgang Puck among many others.
With the K-Cups there is no need to grind coffee beans every time you feel like a cup of coffee. Just drop the whole cup containing pre-ground and pre-measured beans into the Keurig B-40 for a perfect brew. There are two sizes of K-Cups, one is for an 8-ounce cup while the other is for a 10-ounce mug. After brewing, dispose of the whole K-Cup. No more handling of messy and wet paper filters or washing of permanent filters. Aside from coffee, there are also K-Cups with tea or chocolate.
Although the machine brews only a single 8- or 10-ounce cup, its water reservoir has a capacity of 48 ounces. This eliminates the need to refill it every time you want to brew. It is removable making it easy to wash. The platform below the drip spout on which the cup stands is also removable. This is to allow taller travel mugs to fit under the spout as well as for easy of cleaning.
The Keurig B-40 Elite Gourmet Home-Brewing System is a 1,500-watt machine that heats the stored water within 15 seconds in between brews. Initial brew, however, takes longer at about four minutes. The machine is fitted with a two-hour auto shut-off mechanism to prevent overheating.
Dimensions of the Keurig B-40 are 13" H x 10" W x 13" D. When empty, it weighs 12 pounds.
