The buttons and dial on the control panel allow you to choose coffee strength, starting from extra-mild, mild, regular, strong, and extra strong. You only need to push the large button/dial in the middle of the control panel to set this. Turning the same button/dial also lets you choose the quantity of coffee, ranging from a customized 1 ounce to extra long 4 ounces. Another button lets you choose between brewing one or two cups. In addition, you can also control the machine's start time, auto-shut off period, coffee temperature, and water hardness.

With its Direct-to-Brew system, the espresso machine includes a conical burr grinder so that you can brew truly freshly ground coffee beans. Featuring 13 grind settings, you have a wide range of choices as far the grounds' fineness is concerned.

Water heated to optimum temperature in an internal boiler is sprayed over the grounds at 15 bars of pressure, thus ensuring that their aroma and flavor are fully extracted.

The height of the spouts out of which brewed coffee drips can be adjusted according to the size of your cup, which can be an espresso, demitasse, or 12-ounce mug depending on the coffee quantity previously set.

Integrating a nozzle for frothing and steaming with a 25-ounce milk container, the DeLonghi Perfecta is all you need to make a great cappuccino or latte. Just fill the container with milk and put it under the nozzle, then pour it into your espresso. Any leftover can be stored in the refrigerator.

You can even warm your cups before using them to catch the coffee drip, by putting them on the cup warmer incorporated at the top of the espresso machine.
