Underneath its good looks is a special "sempre crema" filter that delivers the perfect espresso with its caramel-colored crema, the foam that makes or breaks a shot of espresso.
Brewing with the DeLonghi EC140B is easy as there are only three intuitive switches to play around with –on/off, espresso or water delivery, and steam. These are all mounted on the front panel above a red indicator lamp that lights up when the machine is heated and ready for brewing.
There is even a built-in tamper incorporated into the machine for packing and pressing your coffee grounds before brewing. You may need to practice using the tamper before you discover just the right density of the grounds for a perfect shot of espresso.
Equipped with a self-priming pump and double boilers made of stainless steel, the machine can brew either single or double shots of espresso in a matter of minutes. Water for boiling comes from a water tank with a capacity of 35 ounces. It can be removed for easy filling and cleaning.
The machine has two nozzles so you can immediately fill two single-shot glasses as the espresso drips out of the machine. If you want a double shot, simply use a bigger cup to catch both drips. And for your cappuccino or latte, you can use the swivel steamer for frothing milk.
